Lauren La Bella joined the Empire crew in 2016 as a studio assistant and has since learned the craft of tattooing by shop owner Tommy Helm. La Bella is currently tattooing full-time. Prior to tattooing, La Bella was working as a freelance photo editor for several Manhattan-based publications and picking up commissioned illustration work.
Having been heavily involved with art from a very young age, learning the art of tattooing has been the perfect avenue to further her relationship with art and her career. With a BFA in painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design, La Bella has participated in many group exhibitions in New York and Savannah, Georgia. She has a background in fashion and photography; both of which heavily influence her work process, techniques, and materials. Her media of choice include but are not limited to: acrylic and oil paint, pencil, installation, and time-based media. La Bella works in both small and large scale.
In addition to creating art, La Bella enjoys curating art exhibitions, or just getting involved in any creative endeavor, from designing clothing to jumping on a photoshoot, or painting a mural.
