Empire State Studio was established in 2006 in the town of Oceanside, New York, now located in Downtown Amityville, New York. Empire State Studio is an all custom tattoo studio that is home to six extremely talented and creative artists. Not only do they tattoo, but explore many other mediums of art as well.


Our Tattoo Studio stands along side our art gallery, featuring art shows approximately every other month. We have been hosting these art gallery shows since 2006. We host solo shows along with themed group shows and they have grown greatly in popularity.


We are a friendly, professional, all custom tattoo shop with an extremely clean environment which prides itself on exceptional customer service. We love when we get to the opportunity to work with our clients one on one and create beautiful, one of a kind, life long artwork.

    • If you have recently been sick or in contact with someone who has been sick, whether that be with COVID-19 or another communicable disease we ask that you please reschedule your appointment. The non-refundable deposit will be carried over to the rescheduled date. This will include if you are sick leading up to your schedule appointment.


    • Tentatively, consults will be virtual, unless artist deems in-person consult necessary.   If in-person consult is necessary, only client will be allowed to enter the studio.


    • Unfortunately we will not accept any walk-ins at this time. We will continue to be by appointment only.  We will be able to accommodate appointments for smaller tattoos, however they will need to be scheduled in advance (can be same day if time is available).     • Due to evolving restrictions and guidelines, appointment times and dates are subject to change.



    • Only clients will be able to enter the building for their appointment. Anyone accompanying scheduled client will not be allowed to enter the studio.


    • Client must come to appointment wearing a mask and wear the mask for the duration of the appointment. We are unable to provide a mask for clients. If client does not come with a mask, the appointment will be rescheduled for a later date.  The deposit will only be carried over one time should this happen.


    • All clients will have their temperature taken upon entering the building and will be asked to use the hand sanitizer prior to entering the studio.




    • Please wash hands upon arrival and frequently throughout the time at the shop.


    • There will be no exiting and re-entering the shop during the appointment. Make sure to eat a proper meal before getting tattooed and bring any necessary drinks or snacks.
    • While in the shop please practice safe social distancing from other clients, artist and employees.


    • Please limit all personal items. Do not place your items on any communal surfaces within the shop to minimize spread and contamination.

  • How do I care for my new tattoo?
  • After Care Instructions:

    Leave the bandage on the tattoo for thirty minutes to two hours. Always wash hands prior to and after application. Wash tattoo with warm water and anti-bacterial soap. Repeat until tattoo is no longer slimy or glazed. (Do not use washcloth on tattoo until completely healed.) Pat or dab, do not rub, until tattoo is dry. Apply a very small amount of Ohana Tattoo Shea Butter. Do not re-bandage the tattoo. Repeat the cleaning procedure 2-3 times per day. Do not soak tattoo in water (bathing or swimming) for at least two weeks or until completely healed. Do not expose tattoo to sunlight for at least two weeks or until tattoo is healed. Exercising is allowed as long as healing tattoo does not touch gym equipment. Immediately shower and wash tattoo afterwards. Wear loose clothing that can allow the healing tattoo to breathe. Do not pick at or scratch new tattoos. This will cause damage to the design.

  • Why can’t I get a price over the phone?
  • We cannot give tattoo prices over the phone due to the nature of custom pieces.   Size, placement, skin type and color or black and grey are all factors that come into play when completing a tattoo.  We encourage our clients to speak with the artist of their choice in order to go over all the information needed in order to provide a quote.

  • How do quotes for a tattoo work?
  • Tattoo price quotes are only estimates.  We do our best to complete the tattoo with in the time frame the artist has estimated, however a tattoo can take longer than anticipated for various reasons. Size, placement, skin type and color or black and grey are all factors that come into play when completing a tattoo.  In some cases, a tattoo can be finished quicker than originally quoted.

  • What happens if I have a Gift Certificate, but might not use the full amount?
  • Gift Certificates cannot be redeemed for cash value.  In the event you do not use the entire value of the Gift Certificate, the remaining amount can be used for future services.  The Gift Certificate cannot be transferred for use by other persons.

  • What happens if my tattoo needs to be touched up?
  • Touch ups will be done at the artists discretion.  Touch up appointments do not require a deposit and are free within six months of when the tattoo is completed, unless the tattoo was damaged by your negligence. If you do not show up for your scheduled touch up appointment, you will be required to leave a deposit to schedule a new appointment.  If you do not show for the second scheduled appointment, the deposit is forfeited and you will be charged at the hourly rate.  We will complete a touch up for a tattoo that was not completed at our shop, however we will charge our normal hourly fee.

  • Can I bring my child to watch me get tattooed?
  • No one under the age of 18 is allowed in the studio under any circumstances.  If you come in for your appointment with a child under 18, you will be required to make a new appointment.  Additionally, your deposit will be forfeited and you will be required to leave an additional deposit.

  • Can I still get tattooed if I am late for my appointment?
  • If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, your appointment may need to be rescheduled, depending upon the artist other scheduled appointment.  If your appointment has to be rescheduled due to your late arrival, you deposit is forfeited and you will be required to leave another deposit in order to rescheduled another appointment.

  • What if I forget to bring my I.D.?
  • You are required by NYS Law to bring State or Federal Photo Identification for each appointment.  If you arrive for your appointment without proper identification or accompanied by a person under the age of 18, you will not be tattooed and the deposited is forfeited.  You will be required to leave another deposit in order to reschedule a new appointment at the artists availability. Acceptable forms of Identification: Drivers License, State Issued Non-Driver ID, Passport or Learners Permit.

  • What if the weather prevented me from getting to my appointment?
  • In case of inclement weather, we ask for you to please all to let us know you can not make the appointment.  As long as you notify us prior to your scheduled appointment time, we will transfer the deposit to a new appointment date, if made within one week of the cancellation.

  • Can I use a Gift Certificate as my deposit?
  • Yes, you can use a Gift Certificate for a deposit.  If you do not provide proper notice to reschedule or do not show for the appointment, the Gift Certificate  will be voided.

  • I decided not to get tattooed, can I transfer my deposit to my friend?
  • Deposits cannot be transferred for use by another person.

  • What happens if I need to reschedule my appointment?
  • If you need to reschedule an appointment, we require 48 hours notice.  If proper notification is provided, we will transfer your deposit to your new appointment.  If we do not receive this proper notification, the deposit is forfeited and a new deposit will be required to schedule a new appointment.  If you choose not to reschedule your appointment when you cancel, we will hold your deposit for one week.  If you do not schedule a new appointment within one week of the cancellation, the deposit is forfeited.

  • How do I schedule an appointment?
  • An appointment must be made over the phone or in person. We do not schedule tattoo appointments via email.  When you are making your appointment you will be required to leave a NON-REFUNDABLE minimum deposit of $100.  The total amount of your deposit will be taken off the total price of the tattoo or at the last scheduled appointment once the tattoo is completed.   If you do not show for your scheduled appointment, the deposit is forfeited and a new deposit will be required to schedule a new appointment.

  • Are walk-ins welcome or do I need an appointment?
  • Walk-ins are always welcome, however we may not always have availability.  Due to limited availability, we encourage booking an appointment especially if you are considering a large custom designed piece.  This will allow your artist to properly prepare for your scheduled appointment.
